Automotive Design
CAD-CAM Case Studies
+
This program looks at two examples of innovative automotive design. Part one features the 2002 winner of the prestigious Pforzheim German Transportation Design Forum competition. The award-winning car design was for Aborigines living in remote rural areas. In part two we visit Drew Price Engineering, manufacturers of innovative high quality go kart products including axle components, bodywork, brake hardware and the Arrow chassis. DPE develop their products through computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-assisted machinery (CAM).

CAD - Creative Design
Made with the Generous Help of CAD Software Design
+
Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture are the keystones of modern design and manufacture. This program examines how this new technology is enabling products to be designed and manufactured more creatively, saving time, money and reducing risk. The program explores the creative applications of CAD software ArtCAM in the jewellery industry. It shows how 2D designs are created on screen and converted into intricate 3D models. It features a wide range of prototypes and designs, from bespoke jewellery for Harrods to mass manufactured jewellery for the high street.

CAD-CAM in the Classroom
+
This program takes a look at one school that is using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) with its students and explores the potential of this technology in contemporary technical education. The program shows how CAD-CAM works as an educational tool and then illustrates how one student was motivated to create and then successfully realize his dream.

CAD/CAM in Textile Manufacturing
+
CAD/CAM is transforming the modern world of textile design and manufacturing. This resource looks at four areas of the textile industry and shows how they are making use of cutting edge technology: Digital Printing, Embroidery, Knitting and Laser cutting. For each case study, the program shows the different ways CAD/CAM is used during the production process. Designers explain how they work in function of new technologies and manufacturers illustrate the benefits CAD/CAM brings to their business.

Computer Aided Design
+
Through the use of two inspirational examples, this program will encourage and enable students to incorporate CAD into their own design projects. Through cases studies we see CAD being used to design rocket boosters, the pod and find out about virtual testing. The second case study shows how CAD and CAM combine to produce cost-effective, tailor-made products.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
+
This resource aims to excite students about geographical information systems, and encourage its use in the classroom. It showcases GIS applications drawn from around the world, including; how town planners are using it in India to map traffic flow and how in London it is being used to plan for transport use during the 2012 Olympics. It also shows how it is used by Disaster Emergency Teams to plan for a nuclear leak and by the police to map and reduce crime.
