Bullying
The Inside Story
+
Bullying - The Inside Story, is a view inside the mind of Ben, a typical student in secondary school. Ben finds himself in a variety of situations in which he is potentially a victim, bully and on-looker of some unpleasant business in his school. As he faces three key scenarios, he debates in his mind the pros and cons of each dilemma. The debate takes place between four animated characters - Party Marty, B. Negative, Max Power and Dr. Sensible - who although funny at times, treat the issue seriously. Interviews with students and psychologist Dr, Andrew Fuller provide additional insight into the scenarios and give hope for challenging the culture of bullying in schools.

Friendship and Bullying in Schools

Girls can be the best of friends or the worst of enemies. Instead of physical aggression typical of boys, girls tend to use indirect techniques that are equally devastating to the victim. This program examines some of these strategies and helps us to understand why some girls adopt these methods of expression. We focus particularly on relational aggression. The program also offers advice for girls who are targets and asks all girls to consider if they are being honest about the way they communicate their annoyance and anger.

This program will support parents who want to work in partnership with their child's school to bring about a suitable outcome for children involved in bullying. No action by a teacher can be seen by students as condoning the bullying or giving tacit acceptance of the behavior. This program discusses the issue of classroom bullying behaviors, and offers thought-provoking management solutions for teachers who need to address this type of behavior.
